Frequent Questions

I AM TOLD THAT I SHOULD TRY INJECTIONS BEFORE KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.
Answer: It is usually in your best interest to exhaust all conservative treatment approaches before resorting to an invasive surgical procedure. Whatever you choose you always need to feel comfortable with your choice. Choosing your treatment is no different from making any other major important decision in your life. You need to compare the pros and cons, potential benefits and risks, and the cost. In reality, the only real considerations are the risk factors. Even small risk factors can become an absolute tragedy when it happens to you. How would you feel if you ended up in a lot of pain with further loss of mobility without ability to make it stop?  Will the fact that it was only small chance to happen make you feel better?

Regenerative treatments often offer you much safer solutions in the long term than those utilizing cortisone, lubricants or surgical intervention.

The results of Prolozone therapy for knee pain are not less, but sometimes even greater than the results achieved from other types of Stem cell therapy including PRP.

Prolozone and Ozone Injections are the most affordable types of regenerative stem cell treatments available.

WHAT IS PROLOZONE THERAPY?
Answer: Prolozone is a safe and effective non-surgical treatment for many kinds of acute and chronic painful
musculoskeletal conditions. Prolozone accomplishes essentially everything offered by the other regenerative medicine techniques and affords the fastest pain relief and anti-inflammatory action.

WHAT CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED WITH THE INJECTIONS?
Answer: The ultimate goal is to minimize or eliminate pain and dysfunction while increasing mobility and the potential to repair and regenerate damaged tissue and possibly eliminate the need for surgical intervention.

WHY HAVEN’T I BEEN OFFERED PROLOZONE BEFORE? Answer: Regenerative Medicine only recently has been gaining recognition as an acceptable form of treatment. This changed occurred only after being popularized by professional athletes. Nevertheless, Regenerative Medicine Injections continue to be considered “Experimental, “Investigational” and an “Alternative Therapy” and are not covered by most insurances. Like chronic pain, it is not well understood but also not taught in most medical schools. Unless a doctor has taken the extra training required to be an effective Regenerative Medicine doctor they may not be aware of the beneficial effects of regenerative joint injections. Furthermore, the time invested in the doctor-patient encounter is usually much longer than what usually transpires in an office setting.

WHAT IS IN PROLOZONE?
Answer: Prolozone utilizes activated medical oxygen (O3), vitamins, minerals, and homeopathic formulations to create a healing effect that allows damaged tissues, joints, ligaments, and tendons to regenerate and circulation to be re-established.

IS THERE CORTISONE IN PROLOZONE?
Answer: Absolutely not. As such, there exists no potential for similar localized or system adverse consequences.

IS PROLOZONE A NARCOTIC?
Answer: No. Prolozone contains no narcotic chemical properties and specifically is not an opiate with no capability to cause any habit-forming dependency.

ARE REGENERATIVE JOINT INJECTIONS SAFE?
Answer: Yes, regenerative joint injections are very safe when performed by a trained regenerative joint doctor. Sterile solutions and equipment are always utilized and aseptic techniques practiced at all times. To enhance accuracy, Ultrasound is used for needle guidance when necessary.

WHAT SIDE EFFECTS CAN I EXPECT?
Answer:
Prolozone has no known side effects.  It does, however. share the same side effects common to all forms of injection which include the possibility for focal tenderness, bruising, bleeding, and infection.

WILL THE INJECTIONS WORK?
Answer: Prolozone or any other treatment should not ever be considered a panacea for everyone nor can it be determined without a trial period to ascertain if such care has the capability to provide a satisfactory response. Only you will make that determination. According to Dr. Frank Shallenberger, M.D., the physician responsible for bringing this German Prolozone Injection Therapy to the United States, roughly 75% of persistent joint pain sufferers who undergo this therapy become pain-free or have their pain significantly improved.

I AM A DIABETIC. CAN I RECEIVE PROLOZONE?
Answer: Yes. There are no known contraindications associated with the receipt of Prolozone injections.

I TAKE A SEVERAL PRESCRIBED AND OTC MEDICATIONS ON A DAILY BASIS. WILL THAT BE A PROBLEM?
Answer:
No. Prolozone has no known drug interactions.

AM I ABLE TO EAT OR DRINK BEFORE MY TREATMENT?
Answer: It is important to remain properly hydrated at all times and to have something to eat prior to the treatment session. There is no reason to skip a meal before receiving care.

HOW EXPENSIVE IS PROLOZONE INJECTION TREATMENT? Answer: The cost for injection(s) to one body part e.g. knee is $200, which includes the sterile homeopathic agents, vitamins, minerals, etc. and medical oxygen/ozone as well as the sterile instruments (needles, syringes), and sterile PPE (gloves, masks, shields) and supplies (surgical towel drapes, ultrasound covers, bandages, etc.). Additional body areas are $175 each. There is an additional charge for the house call which includes applicable history taking, examination, treatment plan determination/implementation, and consultation. This typically will range from $125 to 225 depending on being an initial vs follow-up examination and is complexity/time-dependent.

ARE REGENERATIVE MEDICINE INJECTIONS COVERED BY INSURANCE?

Answer: No. Despite having a proven track record and being widely utilized in Europe for over 40 years by thousands of physicians and with over 30 million adults in this country suffering from chronic significant joint pain, Regenerative Medicine is still considered “Experimental, “Investigational” and an “Alternative Therapy” and not usually covered by insurance.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Answer:
The efficacy of this form of treatment is usually ascertained within 2 treatment sessions. The total number of sessions varies from person to person, but most people only need from 3-5 treatments, however, depending on a number of factors some people require more and some fewer treatments.

I KNOW I NEED CARE BUT I AM ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT GETTING COVID 19. WHAT WILL BE DONE TO PROTECT ME? Answer: Every reasonable attempt to avoid contact with or exposure to SARS-Cov2/COVID-19 remains an integral part of our policy.  We will assume that every patient is potentially infected or colonized with a pathogen that could be transmitted in a routine non-health setting. Your responses to written and verbal questions will determine if the examination and/or treatment will commence.  This must be buttressed by observations made or examination findings e.g. signs of respiratory distress, fever, pulse oximetry readings, auscultation, etc.  The doctor and staff members will always wear appropriate PPE to include a face mask, goggles, or face shield, and gloves.  Social distancing will be adhered to except when unavoidable to perform necessary diagnostic or therapeutic protocols.  As needed handwashing will transpire.  All used garments, instruments, and equipment will be removed from the premises after treatment is completed.
